Tefilla
Tefillah at Spitz Zemer HaZayit elevates the words of the siddur with a special ruach (spirit) that reflects the community we have built and nurtured.
We are committed to including women as full partners in tefillah wherever halachically permissible. Over the years, Spitz Zemer HaZayit has been a trailblazer for many innovative practices, key among them featuring women:

carrying the Sefer Torah through the women's section and opening the holy ark

giving divrei torah for the entire congregation during the tefillah

reciting Kaddish aloud

dancing with the Torah on Simchat Torah

reading Haftarah and the different Megillot on holidays for the entire congregation
-
leading Kabbalat Shabbat
Today, young girls at their bat mitzvahs can feel equally at home as young boys when they read Torah in a parallel women’s Torah reading, followed by chanting Haftarah for the entire congregation.
Tefillah at Spitz Zemer HaZayit encourages the participation of our children. We do so by asking questions on the weekly parasha, designating both girls and boys to lead songs at the conclusion of services, and providing an active young children’s tefillah led by parent volunteers.
Finally, true to our name, Spitz Zemer HaZayit believes that tefillah is more meaningful when infused with song and spirit. Our shul is known throughout the neighborhood as "the singing shul." In fact, many Friday night "regulars" come specifically for the spirited kabbalat shabbat (and even occasional dancing!).
התפילה
התפילה בשפיץ זמר הזית מרוממת, מלאת שירה ומשקפת את רוח הקהילה שצמחה ונבנתה במהלך השנים.
אנחנו מחויבים לשלב את הנשים כשותפות מלאות בתפילה בכל מקום שהדבר מתאפשר מבחינה הלכתית. במהלך השנים בית הכנסת הוא חלוץ לשיתוף ולשילוב של נשים בתפילה בשורה של תפקידים ובכללם:

פתיחת ארון הקודש ונשיאת ספר התורה דרך עזרת הנשים

אמירת דברי תורה במהלך התפילה לכלל הקהילה

אמירת קדיש בקול

ריקוד עם ספר התורה בשמחת תורה

קריאת הפטרות ומגילות לכלל הקהילה
-
הובלת תפילות קבלת שבת
היום נערות בנות מצווה יכולות להרגיש שוות לנערים בני מצווה כשמתאפשר להן לקרוא בתורה בקריאה של נשים לנשים וכן לקרוא את ההפטרה לכלל הקהילה.
אנחנו רואים חשיבות בהשתתפות הילדים במהלך התפילה:
בעת קריאת התורה נשאלות שאלות בין העליות על התוכן של כל עלייה ועלייה. אנחנו מעודדים ילדות וילדים לשיר "אנעים זמירות" בסוף התפילה ומקיימים תפילת ילדים המועברת על ידי אחד ההורים בקהילה בכל שבת ושבת.
לבסוף, כפי שרומז שם הקהילה "שפיץ זמר הזית", אנו מאמינים שהתפילה משמעותית ועמוקה יותר בבואה בשירה מרוממת רוח. בית הכנסת ידוע כמקום שירה, ולתפילות קבלת השבת מגיעים גם מתפללים מבתי כנסת אחרים להצטרף לתפילה, לשירה ולריקודים.
